Organizations Protecting Wetlands

The Wetlands Preservation Foundation

WPF's primary preservation mission is to rehabilitate degraded Delta agland into "wildlife-friendly" rice-centric agriculture which is SUSTAINABLE. Rice cropping provides many benefits; it stops peat subsidence; eliminates release of atmospheric carbon; increases wildlife productivity; and provides sustainable economic opportunity to Delta tenant Farmers.

Association of State Wetland Managers

The Association of State Wetland Managers is a nonprofit membership organization established in 1983 to promote and enhance protection and management of wetland resources, to promote application of sound science to wetland management efforts and to provide training and education for our members and the public. ASWM's members and partners include states and tribes, federal agencies, nonprofit partners, wetland professionals, educators, wetland enthusiasts and many others. The main common goal between these groups is a better understanding of wetlands and how to protect the resources throughout the Nation.

Wisconsin

Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources

Protecting and preserving Wisconsin’s remaining wetlands is critical for the state’s economy, environment and way of life. Nearly half of Wisconsin’s wetlands present in the 1800s have been destroyed and the results are evident with increased flooding and poor water quality in several lakes, rivers, and streams.
